1,000 origami cranes

I met a woman who had been married for 45 years. She attributed the luck of her marriage to 1,000 origami cranes. If a person folds 1,000 origami cranes, they are said to be granted one wish. It also symbolizes 1,000 years of happiness when given to a wedding couple....and if a bride and groom to be fold them together, it's a lesson in patience, quiet and understanding to prepare them for their life ahead.

*sigh*

So I'm a sap. I think it's beautiful. And here's an idea. Let's say the "typical" bride and groom invites 125 people to their wedding. Send each invitee 10 small sheets of paper with instructions on how to create the cranes. Ask them, if they wish, to create them and fold them flat, sending them back in the envelope with the RSVP. Sure, not everyone is going to do it but it would help to create quite a few! You could finish the rest during your wedding shower, string them up and voila! Display them at your reception to show how everyone came together to celebrate your love and wish you 1,000 years of happiness and good luck.

Go ahead and sigh with me now. You know it's a sweet idea. :-)
